Some residents of Kpekorfe in the Agave Traditional Area, a village in the South Tongu District, in the Volta Region have accused the Paramount Chief of Agave Traditional area of impersonation.

In a petition addressed to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), which has been sighted by THE CUSTODIAN, the petitioners are requesting the NIB to investigate the dealings of Togbega Xedihor Hlitabo IV, who is known in private life as Prince Kofi Adiabo.

The petitioners include Torgbe Avave Awuye Kpobi, Joseph Akakpo Awuye, David Mensah Awuye Kpobi, and Ernest Awuye Kpobi.

According to them, Mr Prince Kofi Adiabo is believed to have used the certificate of another person with the name Edward Allan Agbeti to secure a job as a school headmaster with the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Volta Region.

Currently there is a pending case of Contempt of Court at a High Court in Sogakope in the Volta Region against the Paramount Chief, Togbega Xedihor Hlitabo IV, where he is identified as Prince Kofi Adiabo.

However, an exhibit which has been sighted in the petition, an extract from the National Registry of Chiefs, Volta Region captures the name of the Paramount Chief of Agave, Togbega Xedihor Hlitabo IV; as Edward Agbeti.

The petitioners are asking, “that under the circumstances, we humbly pray that the Police carry out investigations directed at the 6th respondent in the Consolidated Suit No. VRP.4/2013 to produce for inspection his National ID, Voters ID, Birth Certificate and other Official Records regarding his (6th Respondent’s) appointment as the headmaster of Dzodze Penyi Senior High School, and its related salary payment voucher, and or any official records to authenticate the conflicting identities of Prince Kofi Adiabo and EDWARD AGBETI.”

There have been reports of an age-long dispute regarding who is the rightful head of the Agave Paramountcy.

Our reporter assigned to contact the Chief in question refused to speak on the matter.

More to follow on this case.
