Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, hosted a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his private residence in Nima, Accra.
The meeting, convened by the former President, was aimed at fostering a spirit of camaraderie and unity ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, and to emphasise the importance of maintaining a cohesive front as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.
In his remarks, former President Akufo-Addo expressed profound gratitude to the aspirants for taking time off their campaign schedules to “break bread” with him. He noted that their presence demonstrated a shared commitment to the collective good and future success of the party.
“I have worked closely with each of you and hold you all in high esteem,” he stated. “Your candidacies reflect your dedication, competence, and contributions to our great party and to Ghana.”
He encouraged the aspirants to conduct their campaigns in a healthy, issue-based manner, focusing on their individual visions for the NPP and the nation, while avoiding divisive rhetoric that could harm party unity.
Former President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed that his primary commitment is to the unity of the NPP, the credibility of the electoral process, and the creation of a rallied, energised party capable of securing victory in 2028.
In a strong display of solidarity, all five aspirants pledged to maintain a competitive yet cordial campaign atmosphere and to support the eventual winner after the primaries.
They also assured the former President of their dedication to party unity and their readiness to work together post-primaries.
