Coach CK Akonnor expecting huge compensation from Asante Kotoko

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have lost their appeal against former coach CK Akonnor over his wrongful dismissal in July last year.

The Porcupine Warriors are to pay the now Black Stars coach a hefty severance package for terminating his contract.

The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) upheld the decision of the Player Status Committee with respect to the contractual dispute between Coach Akonnor and Asante Kotoko SC.

It would be recalled that the Player Status Committee in October 2019, found Asante Kotoko guilty of breaches in the contract with Akonnor and asked the club to pay him compensation.

The ruling of the Appeals Committee has been communicated to both parties.

Coach Akonnor was sacked just nine months into his three-year contract.

He dragged the club to the Ghana Football Association demanding his two years’ salary, league trophy cash, and CAF Confederations Cup group stage entitlements.

This was after Akonnor rejected an offer to head the club’s technical directorate and left his post under bitter circumstances.
