The Government will present its Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in accordance with constitutional and statutory requirements.

Mr Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, announced this on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday.

The announcement followed a question by Mr Habib Iddrisu, First Minority Chief Whip and MP for Tolon.

Mr Ricketts-Hagan announced that the Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, will deliver the mid-year budget.

The Mid-Year Budget Review is expected to provide an update on government revenue performance, expenditure trends and macroeconomic targets for the 2026 fiscal year.

It is also expected to outline policy adjustments aimed at addressing inflationary pressures, debt management and economic growth challenges.

Sector ministries could receive revised budgetary allocations, particularly in the areas of agriculture, health and infrastructure, to align spending with government priorities for the remainder of the year.

The presentation will pave the way for parliamentary debate on the country’s fiscal performance, with the Majority expected to defend government policies while the Minority scrutinises expenditure management and fiscal discipline.

The mid-year budget is a statutory exercise designed to enhance transparency and accountability in public financial management.

It ensures that Parliament and the public are kept informed about the government’s financial standing and policy direction.

In recent years, mid-year budget reviews have been used to introduce tax policy changes, revise expenditure ceilings and reallocate resources to priority sectors of the economy.
