National Chief Imam, Shiekh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu embracing Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended the very best of birthday wishes to the National Chief Imam, Shiekh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.

The Chief Imam celebrates his 101st birthday anniversary today Thursday, 23rd April, 2020 and the Vice President sent a beautiful card recognising such an auspicious day.

Inscription on the card reads: “Happy 101st birthday anniversary to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu. Even at the age of 100 plus, you continue to play an active role in the development of our nation.”

“May the Almighty Allah continue to bless you with good health and long life so that our country will keep benefiting from you wisdom.”

The role of the Chief Imam in keeping the fabric holding Islam and Christianity together in the Ghana cannot be overemphasized.

The National Chief Iman has been an advocate for peace and co-existence between Muslims and Christians and various religious groups in the country.

Last year when he turned 100 years, Sheikh Sharubutu chose to celebrate the day with Christians at Christ the King Catholic Church Accra.

In his message, he urged Christian’s and Muslims to continue to unite for a common goal and spoke about Ghana’s enduring peace and the need to extend it to the rest of the world.
Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu was born on April 23, 1919. 

He is the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Grand Khalifa of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass in Ghana, member of the National Peace Council, and founder of the Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu Education Trust Fund (SONSETFund) and Islamic Peace And Security Council (IPASEC).
