The Member of Parliament for Savelugu Constituency, Hon Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has issued a public notice warning the populace about fraudsters using her name to solicit money from unsuspecting people.
The scam involves phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and other communication channels, where individuals claim to acting on her behalf, request money for support, assistance, or intervention.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator in a statement issued on Monday, December 15, clarified that she does not demand or receive money from anyone as a condition for offering support.
She has therefore urged the general public to disregard such requests and report them to security agencies immediately.
The MP has highlighted the sophisticated methods used by criminals, including voice cloning and digital manipulation, and has appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
”Technology has advanced rapidly, and criminals now employ sophisticated methods, including voice cloning and other forms of digital manipulation, to deceive people. I therefore appeal to everyone to remain vigilant and exercise caution at all times” she stated.
She emphasized the need for collective vigilance to protect against these criminal acts.
Accordingly, the public is advised to stay alert and report any suspicious calls or messages to the relevant authorities for the perpetrators to arrested to face the full rigors of the law.
