Retired Black Stars Skipper, Asamoah Gyan has lashed out strong against the omission of Majeed Ashimeru from the Black Stars list to face Nigeria in the World Cup Play-Off Qualifiers against Nigeria.

The Ghana Football Association released the Black Stars squad this week after many were wondering why the list was not made available earlier. Twenty-seven (27) players made it onto the list to play against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Black Stars top scorer believes the midfielder is second to only Thomas Partey in the current Black Stars players available. In an earlier Twitter post Asamoah Gyan posted a picture of the midfielder with a caption: “This guy Majeed Ashimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana, after Thomas Partey period. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Smh”

After various public reactions, the Legon Cities striker who is out due to injury, took down the post and retract the use of the work ‘nonsense’ in his submission, yet stands by his believe that Majeed Ashimeru deserves a call up to the Black Stars.

Asamoah Gyan’s statement
