The New Patriotic Party Northern Regional Chairman, Mr Mohammed Baantima Samba on Sunday, 29 March, 2020, distributed hundreds of hand sanitizers to persons with disabilities, beggars and market women in the central business district of Tamale. The donation of the sanitizers to these vulnerable people became necessary and crucial due to the outbreak of the pandemic disease. Consequently, there is scarcity of the product due to the high demand for it in Ghana.

The NPP Regional Secretariat led by the Communications Director, Mr Sule Salifu schooled the people in the local dialect about the dangers associated with the coronavirus disease. He urged them to observe the social distancing and safety protocols in the market as they come into contact with many people.

The Custodian can report that, these vulnerable people appeared ignorant about the risk factors of the COVID-19 pandemic and the intervention of the NPP was timely. Chairman Samba donated about 2,500 sanitizers to media institutions, the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prison Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Ambulance Service as frontline organizations in combating the spread of the virus.

The Communications Director in an interview with journalists admonished the public to support and cooperate with government on guidelines given to contain the disease in the country. Mr. Sule Salifu noted the fight against outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 requires concerted effort of government and the citizenry.

He encouraged the public to contribute into the COVID-19 Fund President Nana Akufo Addo announced in his recent address of the nation to support underprivileged and needy in the country.  He said people must prioritize their lives and not be oblivious about threat of the disease.
