The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairman hopeful, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng also known as Asabee has promised to pursue a vision that will enable the party to win the 2024 elections and beyond.

He said he will serve as the next NPP national chairman and lead the party as the new ‘Field Commander’ to win the ensuing general election.

“This is not time for funfair. We are in a difficult moment, and we have a job to do as a team of gallant party members,” he said.

Asabee made the pledge in Accra on Wednesday at the launch of his campaign for chairmanship of the NPP.

NPP, he pointed out, is currently at crossroads and needs concerted effort of members and a formidable team to provide solid answers to the challenges.

He said for NPP to fulfil its desire for the next election, members need to answer three fundamental questions: How leadership can restore the spirit of discipline, patriotism, honesty, sacrifice and public service that the founding fathers established for the tradition and nation; How new leaders will bridge the gap within the entire membership and  government to ensure the fulfilment of promises to the rank and file and, bring prosperity to the people of the country at the same time; and lastly what kind of skill set is needed in the party’s leadership to ensure unity, re-organization and the release of the Party’s energies to Break the 8.

7-point vision

Mr. Asamoah Boateng outlined a seven-point vision that he promised to implement when voted the NPP chairman, which he said will make the party more attractive to win the 2024 elections.

-Restore Party Unity and strengthen the relationship between party members and the NPP government.

-Work to strengthen the Party structures with each party officer assigned specific responsibilities with resources to deliver.

-Work to strengthen the party finances so that the NPP can become self-sufficient.

-Propose an Agenda 60/40, which he intends to vigorously pursue, whereby the party negotiates 40% of political appointments to go the rank-and-file and 60% to the President-elect and his core team.

-Lead his team to build a robust welfare system to support party members.

-Ensure the empowerment of women in the Party and work assiduously towards youth development in the areas of education, mentoring and job opportunities.

-To be an action man with the character of a ‘Field Commander’ ready for an extraordinary time like 2024 to Break the 8.”

Solid team

Asabee, former Director-General of State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) indicated he has the ability to build a solid team of party executive members with capacity to organise and position the NPP as a preferred party of choice poised to win elections.

“We will organize the very hungry team of NPP grassroots youth, women and wise elders and inculcate in the NPP youth the ingredients of learning and growth, the character of go-getter with high level of energy, focus and commitment and, a winning mentality.

“The power underlying our tradition has never been an individual affair but rather, a belief in common democratic principles based on a shared philosophy.

“My firm belief is that our shared philosophy can be actualized for our country, and can also be realized for the Elephant family when the NPP’s government is properly supported by a vibrant party leadership, which constantly reviews, assesses, and seeks to protect the positive aspirations of our cherished members across the country and in the diaspora,” he added.

He stressed the battle ahead in 2024 is not an easy one and warned the NPP taking on its opponents in the usual “arm-chair” mode will be catastrophic

“The NPP does not need an ordinary Chairman in this election but an Action Man.

“Therefore, I Stephen Asamoah Boateng present myself and, ever ready to lead our dear Party to make history under the Fourth Republic by ‘Breaking the 8’ for the good of our dear motherland.

“There is no special time and an opportune moment than this so I call on you to join me to create the refreshing change that we all yearn for.”

“Join me as I seek to become the next Chairman of the New Patriotic Party to ensure a Party that is responsive to the needs of its members and fulfil the philosophy of our founding fathers whilst preparing to break the ‘8’ in 2024,” he appealed.
