Firewood is a subject of litigation by two brothers

The Juaboso Magistrate Court Presided over by His Worship Clement Asomah is sitting on interesting case pertaining to an alleged theft of firewood involving two royals of the town.

Our information has it that the Chief of Juaboso, Nana Kwasi Mensah II has dragged his relative, Nana Kwadwo Gyasi, immediate past Gyasehene of Juaboso to court for allegedly stealing his firewood worth GH¢1,000.

It is further alleged that Nana Mensah has also dragged Nana Gyasi to the court for allegedly threatening to kill him.

This came to light via a cross check of the case from the Juaboso District Police Station where the two cases (theft and threat) have been lodged.

The Commander of the station, Supt. Samuel Ntosoh, admitted that the two cases had been lodged by Nana Mensah against his royal brother Nana Gyasi.

The Supt. stated that their information had indicated that the mother of the case, originated from a piece of land which the two are litigating over.

The matter, according to the police officer, had even gone to the paramountcy at Sefwi Wiawso.

As such, the Police has advised that the two royals settled the case amicably at home, in order not to wash their dirty linens in public.

However, since thy have all taken entrenched positions in the land case, with each laying claim to it, the police had no choice but to send the case to court, where it has been pending.

Our information has it that the Court has called the case on four occasions with Nana Mensah opening his defence and Nana Gyasi questioning him.

When the case was called on the 4th occasion on 9th July, 2020, His Worship Asomah advised that due to the exploits of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nana Gyasi and his witnesses should put their issues on paper to be read in court to the hearing of Nana Mensah and his group on August 6, 2020, while the threatening case has been fixed on 29/07/20.
