Businesses set to trade boardrooms for the field as the ultimate corporate sporting showdown returns
Accra — For one day, the boardroom will take a back seat as corporate Ghana takes its competitive spirit to the field for the Citi Business Olympics 2026, an action-packed celebration of sport, teamwork, wellness, leadership and corporate camaraderie.
The much-anticipated event is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Eden Heights Sports Complex, Weija, with activities beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Powered by 97.3 Citi FM, with support from Channel One TV, the Citi Business Olympics is set to bring employees and corporate teams together for a unique experience where competition meets collaboration and business relationships are strengthened beyond the traditional workplace.
It is proudly sponsored by UMB Bank, Cargill Ghana Limited, Synlab, Bethel Logistics, Boss Ghana Natural Mineral Water and Eden Heights Sports Complex, the event is anchored on the belief that wellness is the foundation of a healthy, productive and successful team.
From the boardroom to the playing field
The Citi Business Olympics is not simply another sporting event.
It is an opportunity for companies to step away from the pressures and routines of the corporate environment and give employees the space to compete, connect, unwind and build stronger relationships.
The concept recognises that some of the qualities that make businesses successful—teamwork, strategy, communication, discipline, resilience and leadership—are also critical to sporting success.
As colleagues come together to represent their organisations, the playing field becomes a different kind of workplace: one where departments collaborate, leaders participate alongside employees, and corporate identities are expressed through healthy competition.
A sporting line-up built for competition
Participants will have a wide range of competitions to choose from, ensuring that the Olympics caters to different interests, abilities and strengths.
The 7-Aside Football competition is expected to generate plenty of excitement as corporate teams battle for supremacy on the pitch.
The programme also features Volleyball for Men and Women and Men’s Basketball, providing opportunities for teams to demonstrate speed, coordination, tactical awareness and teamwork.
Those looking for individual competition can test their skills in Lawn Tennis, Swimming and Arm Wrestling, while the Lime & Spoon and Sack Race promise to inject an element of fun and light-hearted rivalry into the day.
The Tug of War will put teamwork, strength and determination to the ultimate test.
For participants whose strength lies in strategy and intellect, there will be Draught, Chess and Scrabble.
And, in what promises to be one of the day’s most closely watched contests, corporate leaders will step into the spotlight for the CEOs Challenge.
The CEOs challenge: leaders step up
The CEOs Challenge is poised to add a special dimension to the 2026 edition.
Corporate executives who are accustomed to leading from offices and boardrooms will have the opportunity to put themselves to the test in a different environment.
The challenge will not only be about winning.
It will also be about participation, leadership, confidence and the willingness to embrace the same spirit of teamwork and healthy competition expected from employees.
The big question, therefore, remains:
Which CEO will rise to the challenge and claim the ultimate bragging rights?
Beyond the competition
While trophies, victories and bragging rights will undoubtedly provide motivation, the Citi Business Olympics is designed to deliver a much broader corporate experience.
The event provides an avenue for employees to interact outside the formal office setting, strengthen bonds and develop a deeper sense of belonging within their organisations.
It also creates an informal networking environment where professionals from different companies can meet, interact and establish new connections.
For employers, it can serve as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of employee wellness while promoting teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
For employees, it is a chance to relax, compete, cheer for colleagues and enjoy an atmosphere where work relationships can evolve into stronger professional connections.
Whether participants are on the field, competing in a cerebral contest, cheering from the sidelines or networking with fellow professionals, the experience is designed to leave a lasting impression.
As the event organisers put it, participants have the opportunity to “build stronger teams, create lasting connections and let your company spirit shine.”
Who will conquer?
With a diverse range of sporting and intellectual competitions, the Citi Business Olympics 2026 is expected to produce fierce but friendly rivalry among participating companies.
Football teams will chase goals. Volleyball players will fight for every point.
Basketball teams will battle for supremacy. Swimmers and tennis players will rely on speed and precision.
Chess, Scrabble and Draught players will deploy strategy and concentration.
Then there will be the contests where teamwork matters most—Tug of War, Lime & Spoon and Sack Race—where preparation, coordination and a strong team spirit could prove decisive.
Every company will arrive with the desire to win.
But the ultimate victory may go beyond the scoreboard.
It will be measured in stronger teams, healthier employees, new connections, unforgettable moments and the opportunity to experience colleagues and business partners in an entirely different setting.
Get your team ready
With the event fast approaching, businesses are being encouraged to get their teams ready and secure their places for what promises to be a memorable corporate sporting experience.
On Saturday, September 26, the corporate community will leave the boardroom behind and bring its energy, ambition and competitive spirit to Eden Heights Sports Complex, Weija.
