Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, NDC presidential hopeful

Former Minister for Finance Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has declared his intention to contest for the flagbearership of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I will contest of the flagbearership of the NDC when nominations are opened”, Dr. Duffuor, a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and a business magnate announced this at a news conference in Accra on Thursday 3rd November, 2022.
He said he believes in the “Ghanaian Dream” and that is why he is contesting to lead NDC for the 2024 general election to help transform the new Ghana that he envisages for every citizen to enjoy the wealth of the country through education, jobs and healthcare among others.
Ghana, the former Finance Minister indicated, is facing dire economic challenges and therefore needs someone with a track record of effectively managing the economy to manage the country.
Dr. Duffuor touted his track record of being the Finance Minister who managed the country’s economy to achieve the highest GDP growth of over 14 percent under the Presidency of late President John Evans Atta Mills.
“We also achieved the longest single digit inflation in the country”, Dr. Duffuor added.
He promised to campaign on issues that will transform the Ghanaian economy, entreating other potential flagbearers and their supporters to eschew insults and character assassination during their campaigns.
NDC will be holding its national delegates conference in 2023 to elect its presidential candidate for the 2024 general election.
Dr. Duffuor’s main contender is former President John Dramani Mahama in the presidential race.
Even though the former President is yet to declare his intention to enter the race, his unrepentant adherents are all over the country campaigning for him.
