The Barihama Ladies, a women group for the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tamale Central constituency on Saturday organized communal labor at Gumbihini North in the Tamale metropolis to improve the sanitation and hygiene of the community.
The group swept around the Gumbihini Chief palace, the Central mosque and other vantage spots in the community in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. The ladies also used the opportunity to intensify the campaign on the preventive measures against contracting the disease.
The group took time to educate the community members on the signs and symptoms of the pandemic disease and further distributed five thousand free nose masks as well as five hand sanitizers to the residents.
They also encouraged the inhabitants to always adhere to the various precautionary measures to remain safe.
Speaking in an interview with THE CUSTODIAN, Organizer of the Gumbihini North Chapter of the Barihama Ladies, Madam Naamawu Mohammed explained the exercise is aimed at complementing the efforts of Dr Anyars Ibrahim, the NPP Tamale Central constituency Member of Parliament hopeful to enhance sanitation and hygiene in the constituency.
She said Dr Anyars always identify himself with all women irrespective of their socioeconomic status in the area and also support them in various forms. “So we decided to also help him with our widows might to fight the coronavirus pandemic” she added
Madam Naamawu further pledged the support of the group and other women groups in the community to ensure Dr Anyars is elected the next Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central Constituency and also renew the mandate of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on December 7.
“We want everybody to remain safe in the constituency to vote massively for Dr Anyars in December and that is why we embark on the cleanup exercise” she explained further.
Meanwhile, the Constituency Chairperson of the Barihama Ladies, Sayibu Mutiatu Din-nani for her part reiterated the solid support of the constituency for Dr Anyars Ibrahim who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer for the Nations Builders Corps (NABCo).
She, however, commended the Gumbihini chapter of the group for organizing the exercise and further expressed confidence that the NPP Parliamentary Candidate will secure massive votes across the ten ballot boxes at the Gumbihini North electoral area.
Madam Mutiatu further urged the women to be resolute and campaign vigorously to wrestle the Tamale Central seat for the New Patriotic Party and Dr Anyars Ibrahim.
