The government has began allocating food items to 400,000 individuals and homes in various vulnerable communities.

The distribution, under the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP) food distribution is part of efforts at providing care to citizens during the partial lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Local government authorities, NADMO and Faith-based Organization are presented with the items for onward distribution to the beneficiaries.

A delegation from the Ministry of Finance is accompanied by a number of government dignitaries to supervise the distribution.

They include Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, Hajia Alima Mahama, Mr O.B. Amoah, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Mrs Ursula Owusu_Ekuful, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, Ishmael Ashitey and Henry Quartey.

The rest are Mayor Adjei Sowah, Alhaji Abdul-Hanan Wahab Aludiba, and Mr. Eric Nana Agyeman-Prempeh.

The areas that benefited from the distribution included Accra Central, Nima, Darkuman, Agbogbloshie, Ashaiman, Madina, Osu, and Fadama.

The organizations that received the items for distribution to the beneficiaries included the Christian Council, the Catholic Church, Assemblies of God, Church of Pentecost, Action Chapel, Office of the National Chief Imam and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission among others.
