The Mionlana, Naa Abdulai Mahamadu on behalf of the King of Dagbon, Ndan Ya Naa Abukari Mahama II today Monday, 27 April, presented a cheque amount of GHS50,000 to Ghana’s COVID-19 Trust Fund at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
The gesture, according to the Public Relations Officer to the King, Mr. Yakubu Musah, is on behalf of the Dagbon Traditional Kingdom to government in its quest to curtail the spread of the corona virus crisis in Ghana.
He explained that the token is the widows might of the Chiefs and people of Dagbon towards the national campaign against the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Mr. Musah noted that since the outbreak of disease in the country, the Dagbon Overlord procured a number of gun thermometers and other Personal Protection Equipment to aid the fight of the virus in the area.
He added that the Gbewaa Palace has also liaised with the Yendi Municipal Security Council to ensure full compliance by the public with the directives given by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Every now and then we have been holding meetings with the MUSEC just to enforce the public safety in Yendi and its environs” he stressed.
He stated the King has also been making sacrifices and praying to God for His intervention.
The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed received the cheque on behalf of government and thanked the Chiefs and people of Dagbon for the gesture.
