Alhaji Inusah Amadu Dagomba Boy, a Northern Regional Chairman Aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, has called on the Ministers for National Security and the Interior, Albert Kan Dapaah and Ambrose Dery respectively, to intervene in the recent shooting incidents, car hijacking and robbery in the Tamale metropolis.
The situation, according to the businessman cum politician leaves much to be desired and makes the Akufo-Addo administration unpopular in the area and leaves much to be desired.
He noted the trend and pattern of these incidents and similar happenings in the region has created a sense of fear, panic and insecurity in among the residents.
The insecurity has brought uneasiness in the northern regional capital following last Monday gunfire at the Tamale Dakpema palace by unknown assailants. Several individuals sustained bullet wounds as a result including the Dakpema, Naa Fuseini Bawa Bembarigu.
There is also an increasing rate of car snatching in recent years by armed groups and the National first vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress is the latest to have been attacked and his Toyota V8 vehicle taken away.
Broader consultation
Alhaji Inusah Amadu called for wider consultations and brainstorming on these security threats rearing its ugly head in the society to find lasting solutions to these threats on the peace and security in the region.
“As a citizen of Ghana and an illustrious son of this region as well as being a leading member of the New Patriotic Party in the region, these developments among others have become an issue of great concern and I sort to rally the support of other likeminded and concern indigenes to ponder over and contribute to find lasting solutions to this emerging security canker” he added.
He further warned individuals or group of miscreants who have the intension to undermine the existing peace in the country and the northern region in particularly.
“Secondly, we wish to send a strong message of warning to any group of miscreants out there with the intention of creating fear and panic in the region either calculated to tarnish the image of the governing New Patriotic Party or whatever the motive may be to destabilize the hard worn peace of the country and the northern region, they will be met with equal force in defense of our peace and security” he stressed.
Chief’s Collaboration
The former Yendi constituency called on the Ya Naa and the traditional authorities as well as religious leaders to the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to curb the security crisis.
“Furthermore, we want to use the opportunity to call on traditional leadership and all religious leadership of the region – the Yaa –Naa, the overlord of Dagbang, and his able lieutenants, the Yoonaa and the Mion Lana as well as all chiefs within the region to support the call to forestall these emerging threats and bring peace and security to the people as they go about their daily endeavors to improve their livelihood.”
He further entreated the youth to assist the security agencies with relevant information to apprehend the perpetrators devoid of their political differences.
