Alexander Djiku has saved many Ghanaians the hustle of having to employ mathematical skills to calculate their chances of going to the 2026 World Cup.
Black Stars defender, Alaxender Djiku has kept hopes of Ghana high after scoring the winning goal against Mali in Accra.
Ghana started with great intensity in the opening minutes of the game and maintained that throughout the first half.
The Black Stars came near to scoring through a Salisu header which hit the top-right-corner of Mali goal in 8th minute.
52 minutes into the second half at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Alexander Djiku gave the Black Stars the lead when he took a shot from a corner kick.
The visiting team, tried to fight back after 21 minutes into the second half but the Ghana Black Stars defended well to protect the lead.
The win puts the Black Stars as leaders of Group I, with 19 points, in on the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Second in Group I is Madagascar with 16 points, followed by Comoros with 15 points; Mali are 4th with 12 points.
Central African Republic, and the Chad have the least number of points with 5 and 1 respectively.
The are two more games to go and Ghana would have to win all those games to safely secure a play in the final tournament.

In Africa, Morocco was the first to qualify, Tunisia has followed. Eyes are on Egypt, DR. Congo, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Gabon to secure the spots after their game week 8 this week.
