A painstaking and evidence-based data analysis by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed that former President John Dramani Mahama has been terribly abysmal in the implementation of his 2012 manifesto, which was a solemn social contract between him and Ghanaians.
Consequently, the NPP cautioned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the December 7 general election cannot be trusted to deliver on his 2024 manifesto promises should he be elected as president of Ghana again.
The governing party has therefore entreated Ghanaian voters not to be tricked by the former President’s choreographed set of alluring promises.
This is because out of 267 promises comprehensively analysed in the 2012 manifesto of the former President, a whopping 191 were not delivered, representing 71.53% of non-performance.
Only 50 of the manifesto promises were fully delivered, representing 18.73% with 26 promises partially delivered also representing 9.74%.
The highly disappointing performances, pointed out by the NPP, were on the Economy, Education, Infrastructure, Health, Pension and Social Security, Youth and Sports, Poverty Reduction, Agriculture, Governance and Security, Private Sector, Tourism and Creative Industry, Urban Development; and Manufacturing, Industry and Job Creation.
For instance, out of nine promises on the economy, former President Mahama could not deliver on even one, representing 0%.
On Education, 29 promises out of 41 were not delivered with only 10 and 2 fully and partially delivered respectively.
Out of 52 promises on infrastructure, 31 were not delivered, only 18 and 3 were fully and partially delivered respectively.
Analysing promises on Pension and Social Protection, a staggering 15 out of 16 were not fulfilled or delivered with just only one fully delivered.
Notwithstanding this dreadful performance, the NPP noted Mr. Mahama is still promising to improve the welfare of all Ghanaians.
Furthermore, 23 of 30 promises on Agriculture were not fulfilled with just 6 fully delivered.
Significantly again, former President Mahama who has been promising good governance and better security for Ghanaians performed poorly in these areas when he was on the driving seat from 2012-2016.
Mr. Mahama could not fulfil 30 out of 40 promises on Governance and Security, delivering only 7 and partially on 3.
Looking at Manufacturing, Industry and Job Creation, the former President delivered only 3 out of 12 promises.
This trend of poor performance under Mr. Mahama’s presidency is replete in all the sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
Ghanaians should trust NPP-Bawumia
Meanwhile, Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP for the 2024 general election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged Ghanaians to trust the governing party to deliver on its 2024 manifesto promises as it has an enviable track record of performance.
Speaking at a recent media engagement in Accra, Dr. Bawumia revealed that the NPP has fulfilled 83% and 80% promises in its 2016 and 2020 manifestos respectively.
There has since not been any incontrovertible evidence rejecting the Vice President’s assertions.
