Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Deputy Minister for Energy

The Deputy Minister of Energy who doubles as Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency in the northern region, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has been elevated as the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.

This was contained in a letter referred to the Speaker of Parliament by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The much-anticipated ministerial reshuffle was announced today Tuesday, February 7, 2023, and the Karaga MP is one of those the President deems necessary to reassign to a new portfolio in government.

Dr Mohammed Amin Adam comes to replace Charles Adu Boahen who was dismissed in November 2022 following an expose by Ace Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his recent “Galamsey Economy” where he was allegedly involved in corruption.

Meanwhile, the President has also moved the Deputy Minister of Trade, Mr. Herbert Krapa, to replace Dr Amin as the Deputy Minister of Energy.

Other appointments released from the Jubilee House include: Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, former Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) becomes the new Minister of Chieftency and Religious Affairs.

The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, has been picked to replace Alan Kyerematen at the Trade and Industry Ministry. He will be deputized by Dr Stephen Amoah, MP for Nhyiaeso and former head of MASLOC.

The MP for Abetifi Constituency Bryan Acheampong has also been nominated to head the Ministry of Food and Agriculture whilst MP for Akwapim South, Hon Osei Bonsu Amoah popularly known as O.B Amoah has been picked as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government.

Profile of Dr Amin Adam

Prior to becoming the Deputy Minister of Energy, he was the Founder and Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP).

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energy and Petroleum Economics.

As MP, Dr Amin Adam serves in the Finance Committee of Parliament as well as the Defense and Interior Committee.
