Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, the Finance Minister, is set to present the Mid-Year Budget Review for the 2024 Financial Year to Parliament on Tuesday, July 23.

During the presentation of the Business Statement for the week ending Friday, July 19, Mr Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip, announced:

“Mr Speaker, the Business Committee wishes to notify Honourable Members that the Finance Minister is scheduled to present the Mid-Year Review of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy for the 2024 Financial Year on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.”

The presentation will provide an update on the implementation of the 2024 Budget, with insights into the economic and fiscal performance for the first half of the year.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, informed the House that the Business Committee had scheduled sittings on Mondays, starting from July 15, 2024, to complement the extended sittings which began this week.

He also mentioned that a Committee of the Whole meeting was planned for Tuesday, July 16, 2024, during which discussions with the Administrator of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund and the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance would take place. He encouraged all members to attend this meeting.

Regarding the week’s agenda, the Majority Chief Whip announced that the Minister of Education and the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations were scheduled to brief the House on the ongoing strike by lecturers at the Colleges of Education.

Additionally, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations would update the House on the strike action by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG).

In total, ten ministers are expected to attend and respond to 66 questions, including six urgent questions and 60 oral questions.

The ministers expected to appear include the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development; the Minister for the Interior; the Minister of Energy; the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection; and the Minister of Roads and Highways. Other ministers scheduled to attend are those from the ministries of Transport, Employment and Labour Relations, Trade and Industry, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, and the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
