The Chief Executive Officer for the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo), Dr Ibrahim Anyars Imoro who is also the Member of Parliament hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tamale Central constituency has supported nursing mothers to celebrate this year’s Mother’s Day.
The Repairer Foundation on behalf of the NABCo Chief Executive distributed sanitary pads, boxes of soap and nose masks to women at the Tamale West, Tamale Central and SDA hospitals as Ghana joined the world to mark Mother’s Day yesterday.
The Administrative Manager of the Repairer Foundation, Mr. Iddrisu Ablayi Tahiru in an interview said the gesture is to recognize efforts, dedication, love and care of mothers.
He said the materials given will help to enhance the health of the women in this era of coronavirus.
Mr Tahiru said the presentation to complement the good works of Dr Ibrahim Anyars to promote personal hygiene among the constituents and good sanitation practices in the society.
He commended mothers their invaluable roles in keeping families together and called on them to keep inspiring their children to become future leaders.
The Repairer Foundation believes the future of Ghana rests on the youth and therefore builds individual capacities to promote economic empowerment of women and youth.
This, the Manager pointed out, has resulted in the implementation of several projects which include free health screening carried out last year.
Mr. Tahiru hinted the foundation in the coming weeks will be doing projects targeting basic schools in the Tamale metropolis.
He added that the Foundation will be distributing some items to teenagers across schools and also organise a lecture on personal hygiene and to educate students on how to keep their environments clean at all times.
The Clinical Coordinator for the SDA hospital, Dr Asuma on behalf of management thanked the Repairer Foundation and Dr Ibrahim Anyars for the donation, saying this is the second gesture the NABco boss has advanced to the facility.
However, he said the hospital lacks adequate bed facilities and appeals to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate to assist them with more beds especially at the maternity ward.
The hospital admits hundreds of patients daily but Dr Asuma lamented its bed capacity is woefully inadequate.
“Usually, when it comes to a stage where all other facilities are not working, SDA hospital which is a mission hospital is the only one that comes in. I can just infer to the recent strike by anaesthetics, it was only SDA hospital that was working for the whole northern region, and so with the limited amenities that we have, we still manage and work for the people of Tamale.
“And as you can see this is the labour ward, three beds and we have two deliveries and sometimes in a day we can deliver up to 10 people”, he reiterated.
