Dr Mahamudu Bawumia receiving the nomination forms at the Jubilee House

Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has picked nomination forms to contest the November Presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party. Former National Organizer of the NPP, Sammi Awuku and former Vice Chairman of the party, Fred Oware, who are members of Dr Bawumia’s campaign team picked the nomination forms Tuesday morning (May 30, 2023) at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down on his behalf.

The team later presented the documents to the Vice President at the Jubilee House which now significantly announces the intention of Dr Bawumia to lead the NPP into the 2024 general elections.

Dr Bawumia prior to the opening of nominations few weeks ago met with various stakeholders in the party to broadly consult them about his presidential ambition.

He first met with the majority group in Parliament to declare his intention to contest the primaries and later former President John Agyekum Kufuor among other key stakeholders.

He also took time to travel across the country, meeting with party executives and engaging with grassroots supporters as well as opinion leaders.

His recent consultations happened in the Volta Region where he interacted with functionaries of the NPP at Hohoe where he reiterated his intention to ran for the presidency.

Thus far, several research groups and organizations have predicted Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is most likely to lead the New Patriotic Party into the general elections.

Meanwhile, several grassroot groups and leading members of the governing party have thrown their unwavering support behind Bawumia to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
