Former Education Minister and the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwi, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has formerly declared his intention to contest the presidential primary in January 2026.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled January 31, 2026, to elect the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2028 general elections. General Secretary of the largest opposition party, Justin Kodua Frimpong Esq. announced that the National Council of the party which is the second highest decision-making body adopted a proposal from the constitution review committee.
However, Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah clarified that the timing of the presidential primaries will not be subject to approval by the delegates conference to be held on July 19, 2025, as the National Council has already exercised its mandate to approve it.
Consequently, the Bosomtwi lawmaker has announced on Facebook that he will run for the Flagbearership of the NPP should nominations be opened by the party.
“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party” he wrote.
