The NDC Northern Regional Chairman, Chief Ibrahim Mobila

Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the northern region, Sule Salifu has invited the Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila to report the illicit conduct of the suspended executives of the NDC to the Ghana Police Service for criminal investigation for alleged stealing.

Mr. Sule in a statement copied to thecustodianghonline.com said the glaring discrepancy between the Regional Executives of the NDC and accusations from the youth of the party shows dishonest on the part of the leadership.

He said it is unacceptable for any of the NDC regional executives to manufacture stories and cover up to save the impunity of the embattled executives.

The NPP former scribe accused the NDC Regional Chairman and his executives of attempting to twist the merits and facts at hand by indicating in the letters suspending the executives indefinitely for gross insubordination and misconduct.

However, he alleged the Youth Groups of the NDC were very categorical and confident that, the beleaguered executives were busted pants down on video diverting and subsequently selling several bags of sugar meant for party members and opinion leaders in the region.

Now, the NDC Regional Chairman last week reportedly suspended his first Vice Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Rufai Ahmed aka Veilim and the Regional Communications Officer, Abdul Mumin Alhassan aka General Amin together with his deputy, Iddrisu Hardi Pagzaa.

The Chairman also suspended two executives in the Tamale North constituency for allegedly distributing sugar in this holy month of Ramadan in the region without his knowledge and authority.

The party has been tight lipped since the matter broke in the media.

The NPP Communication Director said that, “It is extremely unthinkable and logically wayward to make the distribution of sugar without involving a Regional Chairman an offence worthy of suspension.”

“If distributing sugar is an offence and punishable by suspension, why is it that, Harruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South has not been suspended for distributing same? Inusah Fuseini, MP for Tamale Central, Alhassan Suhuyini, MP for Tamale North and A.B.A Fuseini, MP for Sagnarigu have all distributed sugar to NDC supporters in their respective constituencies.
All these un-performing NDC MPs are yet to be suspended” Sule Salifu questioned Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila for his decision.

He further described the conduct of the opposition leaders as thievery and urged the police command to effect their arrest and prosecution.

Should the police renege on their responsibilities, the NPP communications Boss said, “We will put to use the civil arrest concept by apprehending these suspected “Sugar Thieves” and accordingly hand them over to the police.”

Meanwhile, thecustodianghonline.com can report that the recent brouhaha within the leadership of the National Democratic Congress in the region is a manifestation of who belongs to the Mahama camp and vice versa after the party’s last regional conference in Tamale.

Unsubstantiated rumour in the area is that, the Regional Chairman is the Godfather of the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu and therefore believed to be answerable to the dictates of the Tamale South lawmaker.
