Mr. Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama, new ECG MD

President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama as Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)

He is expected to take over at the helm after the statutory retirement of the outgoing boss, Kwame Agyeman–Budu on May 17, 2022.

Earlier on May 12, the ECG’s Deputy Managing Director responsible for sales, customer service and finance, Jones Ofori–Addo was made Acting Managing Director of ECG whilst government finalised the hunt for a substantive officer.

Prior to this, Samuel Mahama was a non-executive Director at the ECG.

In the letter announcing Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama as the substantive MD on May 13, the President directed the Energy Ministry to trigger necessary modalities to facilitate his regularisation in accordance with Company Act, 2019 (Act 992).

“The President has nominated Mr. Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama for appointment as the Managing Director of Electricity Company Ghana Limited.

“Kindly take the necessary steps to regularise the said appointment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and the regulations of the Company.

“Please accept the President’s best wishes,” the statement signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante said.

About Samuel Dubik Masubir Mahama

He has been doing business in Ghana for almost two decades, having worked in both the private and public sectors.

Mr. Mahama has focused mainly on the energy sector where he has worked with American companies such as Bridgewell resources LLC based in Portland Oregon, Gulf South Forest products based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Elsewedy Electricals based in Cairo Egypt for a decade now.

Mahama has wide experience in consulting for local energy, mining, and engineering firms by assisting them to identify viable projects with necessary funding for turnkey projects.

He also serves on the Board of a few companies including Wilkins Engineering Limited, De-Montag Company Limited and Ghana Industrial Holding Company (GIHOC).

Samuel Dubik Mahama, a graduate of University of Ghana is a lawyer and a partner at the law firm, Dubik and Associates.
