Former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Boakye Agyarko has intensified his campaign for the position of National Chairman of the party with a strategic engagement with the Eastern Regional Executive Committee.
The meeting, held earlier today at the NPP Eastern Regional Office, formed part of Agyarko’s ongoing consultations with party stakeholders across the country following his decision to contest for the party’s top leadership position.
As a native of the Eastern Region, he used the opportunity to formally seek the blessings and support of the region for his candidacy.
Addressing the executives, Agyarko commended the regional leadership and party members for their resilience and strong performance during the 2024 general elections. Despite the party’s challenges at the national level, he noted that the Eastern Region once again demonstrated its strategic importance to the NPP through its impressive electoral showing.
He urged party members to remain committed to the ideals of the NPP and emphasised the need for unity as the party looks ahead to the 2028 elections.

According to Agyarko, reconciliation and collective purpose must become the guiding principles for the party moving forward. He called on members to forgive past grievances, close ranks, and work together in the supreme interest of the NPP, stressing that a united and disciplined party would be essential for electoral success in 2028.
The National Chairman hopeful also expressed concern over acts of indiscipline that could tarnish the image of the party. He warned that unchecked misconduct could undermine the gains the NPP has made over the years and pledged to strengthen discipline across all levels of the party if elected.
In addition, he outlined plans to improve welfare schemes for party officers and members while pursuing structural reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in party administration.
Touching on inclusivity and the future direction of the party, Hon. Agyarko reaffirmed his commitment to fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity. He pledged to support the equitable implementation of opportunities promised by the NPP’s 2024 Flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, ensuring that all party members benefit from the party’s growth and development agenda.
The Eastern Regional Executives, led by Regional Secretary Tony Osei Agyei, warmly received Hon. Agyarko’s message and assured him of their support as he continues his campaign.

Agyarko was accompanied by several prominent party figures, including former Akontobra MP Alex Tetteh, Deputy National Communications Director George Krobea Asante, Eastern Regional First Vice Chairman Dr. Twum Berimah-Koranteng, Eastern Regional Second Vice Chairman Frank Appiah, and a number of constituency executives and members of his campaign team.
The engagement marks another significant step in Agyarko’s bid to secure the NPP National Chairmanship, with his campaign continuing to gather momentum ahead of the party’s internal elections.
