He noted that the government intends to pay all outstanding car maintenance allowances, transfer grants and the promotion allowances of teachers nationwide.
He added a message had already been conveyed to the Minister for Finance for the necessary attention and payment.
”…So at May Day celebration, I picked up three important issues; I have already conveyed same to the Honourable Minister for Finance to give it his optimum attention – outstanding for many teachers across the country was your transfer grant, your promotion allowances and your car maintenance allowances.”
”It is not always the case that when placards dance in front of public officer, they are abusive or insulting [My view]. There are very good lessons you can discern from the placards which messages are simply to call government to action.
”That government pay attention to these issues and do your best possible to resolve the issues for the good of our country and for the good of our teachers” he emphasized.
Recruitment
The Minister said for purposes of recruitment of teachers, the Ministry will dedicate a quota for the vulnerable in society particularly persons living with disabilities.
For his part, Board Chairman of the National Teaching Council, Mr. Kwami Alorvi underscored the need for the construction of the edifice.
According to him, before the construction of the Tamale and Kumasi offices, the Council was operating from rented premises which was too costly to sustain.
The Council therefore decided, with the support of the Ministry, to put up the buildings to permanently serve our teachers.
”Let me take this opportunity to express our profound appreciation to the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Education for their invaluable support in realizing this vision. To our dedicated teachers and education stakeholders, your commitment continues to inspire our mission of ensuring that teaching remains a respected and impactful profession” he stated.

We will continue to offer the necessary support and strengthen our partnership to ensure that teachers in the region receive the best professional services, guidance, and opportunities for advancement” he pledged.
