Honourable Edward Kaale Ewola Dery has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Upper West Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His decision follows what he described as numerous calls, encouragement and expressions of confidence from party faithful across the Upper West Region.
In a declaration of intent, Honourable Dery said he had undertaken extensive consultations with key stakeholders within the party before arriving at his decision.
According to him, he travelled across constituencies in the region to engage Senior Comrades, members of the Council of Elders, Members of Parliament, former and current government appointees, former MPs, party executives at various levels and grassroots members.
He said the consultations focused on preserving the NDC’s values, strengthening unity, bridging the gap between experienced party elders and the youth, expanding mentorship opportunities and consolidating the party’s achievements.
“These interactions have not only inspired me but have also reinforced my conviction that the time is right to contribute more meaningfully to the growth, strength, and future success of our Party,” he said.

Honourable Dery said he brings decades of experience in grassroots mobilisation, party organisation and member engagement to the contest.
If elected, he pledged to strengthen party structures across the region, deepen grassroots participation, promote youth mentorship and leadership development, and recognise the contributions of party elders and stalwarts.
He also promised to promote unity, transparency, accountability and teamwork while positioning the NDC as the preferred political choice for voters in the Upper West Region and beyond.
Calling for support from party elders, cadres, MPs, appointees, executives, the Women’s and Youth Wings, and grassroots members, Mr Dery urged delegates to vote for his candidature.
He concluded with the party slogan: “Aluta Continua! Victory is Certain!”
