Ghanaian singer Efya Nokturnal and Nigerian musician Tomi Thomas have officially formalised their union in a vibrant and colourful traditional marriage ceremony held in Accra, creating a memorable fusion of music, fashion and the rich cultural traditions of both Ghana and Nigeria.
The joyful event, which took place on Friday, November 6, 2026, drew an impressive gathering of personalities from the entertainment industry, politics and traditional leadership, as the couple marked this important chapter in their relationship ahead of their white wedding.
Efya, celebrated for her powerful vocals and string of hit songs that have cemented her place as one of Ghana’s leading musical voices, made a striking entrance in a specially designed Kente gown that paid elegant homage to her Ghanaian heritage.
The intricate patterns and bold colours of the fabric reflected both tradition and contemporary style, turning heads and drawing admiring glances from guests throughout the ceremony. Her husband, Tomi Thomas, fully embraced the cultural theme of the day.
He chose a richly woven Ghanaian Kente cloth, complemented by carefully selected gold accessories that added a touch of regal splendour to his appearance.
His arrival, accompanied by an entourage and traditional musicians, generated waves of excitement and set a festive tone that continued throughout the celebration.
The ceremony itself offered a beautiful blend of Ghanaian and Nigerian influences. From the carefully chosen attire to the music and overall festivities, every element reflected the couple’s dual cultural backgrounds and their shared appreciation for West African heritage.
The atmosphere was one of warmth, colour and genuine celebration, with guests immersing themselves in the traditions on display.
Among the prominent attendees were the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, whose presence underscored the cultural significance of the occasion, and the Paramount Chief of Akuapem, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, representing traditional authority. The entertainment industry was equally well represented. Celebrities including Efia Odo, Sister Derby, Salma Mumin, Fantana and Becca joined the festivities, adding star power and further elevating the glamour of the day. Their presence highlighted the strong bonds within Ghana’s creative community and the affection many hold for Efya and her work.
Music played a central role in the celebration, as expected at an event uniting two talented artists. Guests danced joyfully to a lively mix of highlife classics and contemporary Afrobeats, creating an infectious energy that kept the dance floor alive for hours.
The sounds of both Ghanaian and Nigerian rhythms filled the air, symbolising the harmonious coming together of the couple’s roots.
This traditional marriage marks a significant milestone in Efya and Tomi Thomas’s relationship. It represents not only their personal commitment but also a public affirmation of their union, rooted in cultural respect and shared values.
With the traditional rites now completed, attention turns to their white wedding, scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, also in Accra.
Friends, family and fans alike look forward to the next stage of the celebrations, which promise to be equally memorable as the couple begin their married life together.
