The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has called on the new leadership of the Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) to enforce professional standards within the advertising industry.

Delivering a keynote address at the 8th Investiture Ceremony of President and Executive Council of the AAG on Friday, February 10, 2023 in Accra, the minister emphasized the need for the advertising industry to maintain high ethical standards and adhere to best practices.

“The advertising industry plays a critical role in shaping public opinion and influencing consumer behavior. As such, it is imperative that we ensure that the industry operates in an ethical and professional manner,” Oppong Nkrumah said.

He stressed the importance of the advertising industry in promoting the country’s economic growth and development, and called on the new leadership of the AAG to work closely with the government to create an enabling environment for the industry to thrive.

“We must work together to promote the growth of the advertising industry and attract more investment into the sector. This can only be achieved if the industry operates in a professional and ethical manner, and I am confident that the new leadership of the AAG will rise to the challenge,” Mr. Nkrumah said.

The Minister also tasked the new leadership to work assiduously to get the much talked about Advertising Bill passed into law in order to bring the necessary regulatory backing, standards and framework for the quick advancement of the industry.

He said this is one of the surest ways the leadership can engender best practices among advertisers in order to develop a strong and vibrant industry.
