The Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama has commissioned an ultramodern Emergency and Trauma Centre at the Yendi Municipal Hospital.  The facility will serve patients within and around the Yendi municipality.

The Yendi government hospital also serves as a prime referral health facility in the entire Eastern Corridor of the northern region and people from Gushegu, Chereponi, Bimbilla, Kpandai, Zabzugu, Tatale,  Saboba, Karaga and the Mion districts depends on the hospital major medical conditions.

The intervention will also reduce pressure on the Tamale Teaching Hospital which provides tertiary healthcare to the five regions in the north and the Sahel regions.

In his address, the Yendi Legislator noted the intervention forms part his New Yendi City vision to aggressively transform the Yendi Constituency to a modern city status that provides progress and development for all.

“Upon the advent of my mandate as Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency, we set out to reconstruct and build towards a vision dubbed- the New Yendi City. This informed my singular effort to revive, refurbish and re-equip the Yendi hospital Mortuary after the unit broke down for about two decades.”

The MP added, “When I also had a wind of the need for a new Emergency and Trauma Centre, I immediately got on board and today I am excited about the product of our collective effort. I am overwhelmed by what a community can achieve together if her citizens are united.”

He therefore thanked the Global Missions and Resources Centre, Mission 318 and all stakeholders for their invaluable support to improve quality of service delivery especially to the poor and vulnerable in society.

“It is our sincere hope that this relationship and collaboration between your organizations and the people of Yendi will continue to grow from strength to strength for the benefit of our people” he prayed.

The Ghana Health Service Deputy Northern Regional Director in charge of administration, Dr Jeremiah Tiimob, on behalf of the Acting Regional Director said the construction of the Emergency and Trauma was a critical milestone achievement as far as provision of healthcare in the Yendi municipality and Ghana was concerned.

He stated the Ghana Health Service was therefore excited for the investment that has gone into the magnificent edifice and further the US benevolent organization for their instrumental role in bringing the project through.   

The Deputy Director indicated the facility represents a quantum leap in the infrastructural capacity of the Yendi Municipal Hospital which by its strategic location plays a pivotal role in healthcare delivery within the eastern corridor of the Northern Region.
