GCB Bank support funeral rites of late Tolon Naa, Major Sulemana

‎The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB Bank) has presented an amount of Twenty thousand cedis (GHS20,000) to support the funeral rites of the late Tolon Naa, Major (Rtd) Sulemana Abubakari.
‎
‎In addition, the Bank also presented 10 bags of maize, 5 bags of rice, packs of assorted mineral water and 2 gallons of cooking oil to support the ongoing funeral activities.
‎
‎Addressing the media after a short presentation ceremony on Tuesday (September 1, 2026), Managing Director of GCB Bank, Farihan Alhassan said the demise of the Tolon Naa was a major loss to the Dagbon Kingdom and Ghana as a whole.
‎
‎He added this was also a great loss to the bank where the son of the deceased traditional leader is presently working.
‎
‎Mr. Farihan further described the late Chief as a father who immensely support his mother while she was serving as the Tolon district Director of Ghana Health Service until her retirement.

‎He also disclosed that Major Sulemana and his biological father had a very good relationship which lasted for years until he passing to glory.
‎
‎”To sum it all, the King’s son works with the bank; so in all angles, you can see that I’m actually involved in this – he was my father and my uncle” he stated.
‎
‎Meanwhile, elders of the palace after receiving the donation commended the MD for his thoughtfulness and generosity.
‎
‎The Palace however used the opportunity to clarify the circumstances leading to the untimely death of the Chief following rumors that he took ill and traveled to Accra where he passed.


‎
‎According to the palace elders, the late Tolon Naa never showed any sign of illness and was engaged in his routine daily activities.
‎
‎However, they lamented it was later in the afternoon when he went into his inner chamber to rest that the unfortunate incident occurred contrary rumors that he died at the hospital.
‎
‎The Palace further cautioned the general public to desist from spreading the false narrative.
