The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has announced that Ghana is positioning itself to become the leading manufacturing hub in West Africa, signalling a renewed economic direction under President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking at the opening of the third edition of the Kwahu Business Forum at the Kwahu Convention Centre, Mr Debrah said the government is committed to shifting the economy from a production-focused model to one centred on manufacturing and value addition.
He stressed that realising this goal will require a fundamental change in economic thinking, supported by deliberate policies that foster a business-friendly environment. Stronger collaboration between government and the private sector, he noted, will be key to unlocking the country’s industrial potential.
Mr Debrah also criticised the longstanding constraints of the “Guggisberg economy”, urging stakeholders to move beyond rhetoric and take decisive action toward industrialisation. He called on policymakers, investors and entrepreneurs to prioritise industries that generate jobs, boost exports and expand the economic base.
“Let this Forum send a powerful message from the hills of Kwahu to every corner of Ghana: that we are ready to build, ready to produce, ready to lead, and ready to uplift others as we rise.”
