Some irate members of the National Democratic Congress in the northern region Friday morning allegedly fired gunshots and vandalized properties at the NDC party’s regional office in Tamale.

Information gathered by thecustodianghonline.com indicates the action of the aggrieved members is in protest against the recent suspension of some executives in the region.

The Regional Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila reportedly suspended his first Vice Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Rufai Ahmed aka Veilim and the Regional Communications Officer, Abdul Mumin Alhassan aka General Amin together with his deputy, Iddrisu Hardi Pagzaa.

The disciplinary also affected two executives in the Tamale North constituency for allegedly distributing sugar in this holy month of Ramadan in the region without the knowledge and authority of the Chairman.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers allegedly fired several gunshots and damage some electrical gadgets of the secretariat.

They said the Regional Chief Scribe and other party members were present at the time of the incident but we can report the Regional Secretary was unhurt.

However, the situation has been brought under control by police in the region at the time thecustodianghonline.com visited the office.

The crowd control van and some personnel of the Rapid Response Team have been stationed at the place to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary, Mohammed Abdul Salam when contacted said the regional executives were going into an emergency meeting and therefore he could not readily comment on the matter.
