Farouk Aliu Mahama & the Mom - Hajia Ramatu Mahama

Farouk Aliu Mahama, the first male child of the late Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama, former Second Lady of Ghana has said his mother was a great woman to the family and very dear to all manner of persons in life. The latter, he continued impacted knowledge to many people in her stewardship as a teacher and a Second Lady of the Republic.

“And we take solace from the fact that, Allah is the giver and the taker and we know that, our mother, as the Vice President reiterated that her good deeds manifest in the presence of the people gathered here; and we all and sundry here must learn lessons that we should be prayerful, we should help one another because life is very short” he indicated.

Alhaji Farouk whilst addressing family members and sympathizers from all walks of life in Yendi on Sunday (April 17, 2022) for the 7th Day Islamic Ceremony for Hajia Ramatu, acknowledged the support of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, late President Evans Atta Mills, President Mahama, current President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who have all supported the family for the healthcare of the deceased as well as the thick and thin times.

“But, my special acknowledgement and appreciation is to single out our brother Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. It is very surprising that people do not know there is a history between the Egala family and the Bawumia family.

“My late grandfather, Alhaji Imoro Egala, Minister of Trade and first black Chairman of Ghana Cocoa Board was family friend to our Vice President’s father, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia. So it is a continuation of a generational relationship which has manifested from the late Imoro Egala to the late Bawumia and to the current Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; so we’re not surprised by the family gesture and commitment irrespective of Dr Bawumia’s position, he has shown commitment to us as children and the family and we say a special prayer for him, that, Insha Allah, we will witness Dr Mahamudu Bawumia becoming President of Ghana” he prayed.

The wife of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after battling with heart related conditions.

She died at age 70. She died leaving her four children, namely; Salma Mahama, Farouk Aliu Mahama, Fayad Mahama and Halim Mahama.

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was in attendance for the seventh day Adu’a (Islamic ceremony) and bigwigs of the NPP, the NDC as well as business associates of the Aliu Mahama family at Yendi to participate in the funeral yesterday.
