The Deputy Registrar at the Tamale Technical University (TaTU), Yakubu Abdul-Jalil Bawa, has described the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, as a man prepared by destiny for a great call.
He believes the 6th term Tamale South Member of Parliament, though born into a humble background, has risen in life through relentless effort and hard work.
As the momentum continues to grow stronger within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for a successor of President John Dramani Mahama, who will not be contesting the 2028 general elections due to the constitutional term limit, Mr. Bawa posited that the country may have to look up North again for a leader.
”The winds now stir, the whispers grow. A greater call begins to show. Ghana may look north once more to find the leader she longs to know,” he categorically stated.
He narrated to the Custodian Online in an interaction that the former Minority Leader walked through the dusty paths of Kulikuli Primary School in Tamale for his basic education and learned under harsh weather conditions and strict rules in Navrongo and Tamale, respectively for his secondary education before proceeding to the University of Ghana.
According to Mr. Bawa, patience and purpose has over the years shaped the career of the education minister, who has also held previous cabinet ministerial positions and served the nation to the admiration of many people within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the nation as a whole.
He thereby express no surprise about the innovative and results-oriented work being done by Mr. Iddrisu at the Education Ministry.
”The Trade and Industry Ministry felt his handiwork, the Communications Ministry also witnessed his guiding light,
Employment and Labour Relations knew his stand and now Education shines under his sight,” he stated.
The TaTU Deputy Registrar noted that despite the achievements made, the Tamale South MP has remained humble and diligent with the responsibilities entrusted to him by President John Dramani.
Meanwhile, the Tamale South lawmaker has been tipped as one of the frontrunners in the impending presidential contest of the NDC when the time is due.
A recent working visit to the Upper East Region saw a group of NDC youth displaying a banner with a picture of the education minister accompanied with the infamous adage: “The tortoise will ride an elephant at dawn” which was expressly stated by Hon Haruna Iddrisu then Minority Leader when the NDC worked tirelessly to get Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin elected as the speaker of parliament in January 2021.
