Former Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has startlingly revealed that he had no best friend during his time with the senior national football team.
After making his Ghana debut as a teenager in 2003, Gyan went on to play with a tall list of players.
Among the list of players, the former Sunderland striker has played with includes Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah, John Mensah, John Pantsil, Kevin Prince Boateng, Sulley Muntari, Laryea Kingson, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Wakaso Mubarak, John Boye and several others.
He has disclosed in an interview with TV3 that although he grew close to some of his colleagues, he never had a best friend in any squad announced.
“When you talk about best friend, I always say I was cool with everybody but none of them was my best friend”, he said.
Gyan has however that he grew more close to two players, namely John Boye and Kwadwo Asamoah.
He also played with his senior brother Baffour Gyan although it remains unclear whether he falls under the category of Ghana’s all-time top scorer as highlighted.
