The Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu in the northern region, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu has promised to run an open door and transparent administration as her nomination by President Nana Akufo-Addo has been confirmed by the assembly members on Saturday, October 2, 2021.
She obtained 33 out of 36 total votes cast representing 92 percent and three assembly members representing 8 percent declined to endorse her nomination by the president.
Hajia Ayishetu Seidu in her victory speech thanked the assembly members for overwhelmingly endorsing her nomination for appointment as the Savelugu Municipal Chief Executive for the second term.
“I want to assure you of my cordial working relation with all of you to ensure the development of the municipality. I will continue to run an open and transparent administration where all stakeholders would be consulted in matters concerning the development of the municipality” she emphasized.
She further solicited development partners, traditional authorities, and youth leaders among others to collaborate with the Savelugu Municipal Assembly for economic growth to thrive.
The Savelugu MCE said, “I also thank His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the trust he has in me by considering me for the position and I pledged to work hard to help him achieve his developmental agenda.”
Meanwhile, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu is the only female candidate nominated by President Akufo-Addo out of 16 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in the northern region.
The Northern Region has only the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly yet to confirm the president’s nominee for the area with the other 15 MMDAs all endorsing their respective candidates.
However, the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly is scheduled to hold its special meeting on Monday October 4, 2021, to confirm the President’s nominee for the area, Mr. Yakubu Ahmed Mohammed.
