Eight months after a pilot reclamation started in portions of the galamsey-degraded Apamprama Forest Reserve in the Ashanti region, JoyNews checks show economic tree species are beginning to show a steady growth.

The Forestry Commission has granted Unipower Mining Company Limited an entry permit to begin a free pilot forest restoration project.

The reclamation consultants say it will take some months for the 25-hectare degraded portion of the forest to achieve canopy closure.

Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor went back to the forest to gauge the progress of work and filed this report.
