James Agalga comes to his new role as Majority Leader well prepared – Dr Amin Adam

‎The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency and former Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has stated that the new Majority Leader, James Agalga is coming to the role well prepared.

‎The Builsa North Member of Parliament on Friday, August 7, 2026, was announced as the new leader of Government Business following the appointment of the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga as the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
‎
‎In accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, President John Dramani Mahama, through the Speaker of Parliament, has nominated Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings as the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, and Mahama Ayariga as Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

‎The two nominations are subject to parliamentary approval before the appointees can be formally sworn into office.

‎Dr Amin Adam in a Facebook post congratulate the four term National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislator.

‎”Congratulations to Hon. James Agalga on his selection as Majority Leader of Parliament.”

‎The Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament shared a personal knowledge about the new Majority Leader, stating that “I have known James since his younger days, and I can say without hesitation that he comes to this role well prepared.”

‎According to him, Mr. Agalga’s years in Parliament and in Government have given him a firm grasp of the demands of leadership.
‎
‎He further described the former Deputy Minister for Interior as a fine intellect and a formidable debater, which in his view are the qualities the House will benefit from.
‎
‎”For our part, the Minority will hold our line. We will pursue our responsibility with vigour by defending our democracy and speaking for those who have no voice.
‎
‎”Ultimately, I believe the leaders on both sides will engage in greater dialogue and build consensus where it matters, so that our discourse serves the higher interest of our country” he wrote.
