The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commended the newly appointed Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, urging him to maintain his momentum in tackling critical national issues.
The Asantehene’s remarks came during a courtesy call by Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, accompanied by his Deputy Minister-designate, Dr. Prince Hamidu Armah, and the Ministry’s staff, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, April 19, 2024.
The Asantehene expressed his admiration for the Minister’s proactive approach, particularly within the short time he has held the office.
“We applaud the hard work and dedication demonstrated by the Minister, especially considering the brief period he has assumed this new role,” the Asantehene remarked.
He recalled the transformative impact Mr. Oppong Nkrumah had at the Ministry of Information, handling government communications efficiently. Drawing from this experience, the Asantehene expressed confidence that the Minister would excel in his new portfolio at the Ministry of Works and Housing.
“Based on his proven track record, I am confident that the Minister will excel in his new portfolio,” the Asantehene declared.
Emphasizing the pressing issues facing the Ashanti Region, the Asantehene highlighted the urgency of mitigating flooding particularly as the rainy season draws near.
He endorsed the government’s decision to collaborate with the private sector to address the housing deficit encouraging the Minister to put measures in place that will see the fast development of the affordable housing project at Dedesua.
In response, Minister Oppong Nkrumah expressed gratitude to the Paramount Chief for his support and guidance.
He reassured him of government’s unwavering commitment to expedite construction works and tackle the housing challenges within the region.
