The District Chief Executive for Kumbungu, Hon Abdul Salam Hamza Fatawu has been confirmed for his second tenure in office. 

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo renominated Mr. Hamza Fatawu who served as the DCE for the area from 2017. 

25 Assembly Members voted in favor of the nomination of Mr. Abdul Salam Hamza Fatawu representing 71 percent whilst 9 voted to oppose it. 

However, the Electoral Commission announced one rejected ballot making a total of 35 votes cast.  

The District Chief Executive in his remarks thanked President Nana Akufo-Addo for the confidence and trust he has reposed on him to serve in his second term of office. 

He also thanked the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, for the massive support he has given him and further expressed his gratitude to the assembly members for the endorsement. 

Mr. Abdul Salam Hamza Fatawu indicated there is still a lot of work to be done in the Kumbungu District and promised to work collaboratively with all development partners to achieve the desired goals for the district. 

He further underscored the impact of the numerous pro poor policy interventions being implemented in the area and called for the support of all to realize the vision of the Akufo-Addo administration. 

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Shani Alhassan Shaibu, on his part commended the assembly members for respecting the decision of the President. 

He said the Kumbungu District Assembly should work in harmony for the needed development to thrive in the area. 

He said the New Patriotic Party government under Nana Akufo-Addo is committed to bring development closer to the people and therefore require the cooperation and support of all stakeholders in the region.

Meanwhile, as at yesterday Thursday (30 September, 2021) twelve Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive nominees had received the endorsement of their respective assembly members. 

The areas include, Tamale Metro, Gushegu, Nanton, Saboba, Karaga, Nanumba North, Zabzugu, Tatale/Sanguli, Mion, Kumbungu and Tolon.  The remaining district area, Nanumba South, Savelugu, Sagnarigu and Kpandai.
