President John Dramani Mahama has delivered 40 new armoured security vehicles to the Ghana Police Service, marking a major step toward improving law-enforcement capacity and national security.
The vehicles — designed to withstand high-risk operations, protect officers, and support crowd-management and anti-crime efforts — were officially handed over at a brief ceremony attended by senior police officials, government representatives, and security experts.
The handing-over ceremony was held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, and was attended by President John Mahama, government officials, and top police leadership.
During the ceremony, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu assured that the vehicles would be strategically deployed and properly maintained to meet their intended goals, while also expressing gratitude to the government for its support.
The Inspector-General of Police expressed appreciation for the support, describing the vehicles as a timely reinforcement.
He noted that the new additions will be deployed across various regions, especially in areas that have recorded rising security concerns and require improved operational mobility.

“We wish to sincerely express our profound gratitude to the government for thinking about us and prioritising our welfare. Our assurance to you is that the vehicles will be well-maintained and strategically deployed to achieve the intended objectives,” he said.
The event was also attended by Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak and several senior police officers, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies.
IGP Yohunu highlighted that the new fleet would significantly improve the Service’s ability to respond to emergencies, safeguard communities, and maintain law and order.
He further urged officers to use the vehicles responsibly and continue their vital mission of protecting life and property across the country.
