President John Dramani Mahama has submitted two new ministerial nominees to Parliament for approval while announcing the reassignment of two serving ministers in a fresh reshuffle of his administration.

The nominations, submitted in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, are subject to parliamentary vetting and approval before the nominees can assume office.

Under the new appointments, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, Member of Parliament, has been nominated as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology. Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament, has been nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

In addition to the fresh nominations, President Mahama has reassigned two ministers to new portfolios as part of efforts to strengthen government operations.

Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned to serve as Minister for Defense, while Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, will now head the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

The latest changes form part of the President’s ongoing efforts to reposition key ministries to support the government’s development agenda and improve public service delivery.

The nominations have been forwarded to Parliament, where the Appointments Committee is expected to vet the nominees before presenting its recommendations to the House for approval.

Article 78(1) of the Constitution empowers the President to appoint ministers of state with the prior approval of Parliament, ensuring legislative oversight in the formation of government.

Once approved by Parliament, the new nominees will officially assume their respective ministerial roles, while the reassigned ministers are expected to begin work in their new portfolios immediately.
