President John Dramani Mahama has made further changes to his administration, reassigning Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi from the Ministry of Defence to the Presidency, where he will serve as Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
Brogya Genfi has served as Deputy Defence Minister since his appointment in March 2025.
In another change, Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives Emmanuel Agyekum has been moved to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment. He will be replaced by Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo.
The latest changes mark the second ministerial reshuffle under President Mahama’s current second term. The first was announced on August 7, 2026.
As part of the August reshuffle, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei was reassigned from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim was moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to take charge of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
