Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Majority Chief Whip

Former President John Dramani Mahama has launched a political war against the Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region, Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh as he has charged members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ensure the Majority Chief Whip loses his seat.

According to him, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh is causing a serious problem for the NDC, especially within the Minority caucus in Parliament by influencing them to endorse every government business.

The former president said this when he met with the NDC constituency executives at Nsawam last Wednesday after an earlier meeting with party delegates as part of his campaign tour of the Eastern region.

He told the NDC constituency executives after meeting the delegates that, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh has managed to divide the Minority front in Parliament.

According to former President Mahama, the influence of the Majority Chief Whip is creating problems between the leadership of NDC and the Minority Caucus in Parliament.

Already there is a serious problem between the NDC members and the Minority Caucus in Parliament over their decision of voting for government businesses.

Consequently, the minority group has been accused of being in bed with the NPP Majority Caucus and has allowed the latter to influence them in Parliament.

Former President Mahama expressed worry about how the Minority MPs are going against the party decision after they have been instructed to vote against government’s businesses in the House.

He has therefore pledged to do everything possible by giving the party the necessary resources to cause Annoh-Dompreh’s defeat since the Nsawam/Adoagyiri MP has now become his target.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip of the 8th Parliament, since he assumed office has managed to go the extra mile to always build consciousness with the Minority group in Parliament to endorse any government business before the House even though the NDC leadership has tried on many occasions to influence their MPs to vote against them.

It has been reported that Mr. Annoh-Dompreh has built good relationships with most of the NDC MPs, especially their leaders, which the NDC national executives are not happy with, the NDC leadership, THE CUSTODIAN, has gathered, has accused Mr. Annoh-Dompreh of influencing the NDC MPs to side with the NPP to vote for government policies and ministerial nominees.

As a result of this and among other allegations, the leadership of the main opposition party led by Chairman Johnson Aseidu Nketiah and the General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey recently took an autocratic decision by removing Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu and Asawase MP Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka from the Minority Leader and Minority Chief Whip roles respectively without their knowledge in a Rambo-style.

Aside from the Parliamentary issue, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh has also been launching political attacks on former President Mahama by exposing his deeds in the past NDC government.

However, an obviously unhappy Mahama who appears to be on a revenge mission, has promised to do everything possible for Mr. Annoh-Dompreh to lose his seat.
