President John Dramani Mahama is expected to make further changes to the leadership of state institutions, including the appointment and reassignment of some Chief Executives, as his administration moves to strengthen coordination and improve government performance.
The latest shake-up is part of a wider reorganisation of the government that has already seen President Mahama reshuffle his ministers and dissolve the boards of selected state institutions.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, the Presidency said the move underscores the President’s resolve to ensure that government appointees remain focused on the administration’s policies, priorities and development agenda.
President Mahama, the statement noted, remains committed to promoting discipline, accountability and effective leadership throughout the public sector.
It said Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Chief Executives, board members and other political appointees must execute their duties with integrity, diligence and humility while observing the appropriate administrative processes.
The Presidency also warned that any conduct that compromises government cohesion, weakens institutional authority or obstructs the implementation of government policy would not be tolerated.
It reminded appointees that holding public office is a privilege that carries a responsibility to serve the Ghanaian people effectively.
The performance of all government appointees will continue to be monitored, the statement said, adding that the President would take whatever additional steps are necessary to protect the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his administration.
“The President will take any further action necessary to safeguard the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his Administration,” it stated.
The Presidency called on all appointees to cooperate with the process and remain committed to implementing the government’s mandate and improving the welfare of Ghanaians.
