Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has appointed the central bank’s Second Deputy Governor, Matilda Asante-Asiedu, as his authorised representative on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
The appointment took effect on Monday, May 11, 2026, and authorises Mrs Asante-Asiedu to attend and fully participate in all meetings of the GoldBod Board on behalf of the Governor.
In a letter communicating the decision, Dr Asiama said Mrs Asante-Asiedu had been duly nominated to represent his interests on the Board and contribute to its deliberations.
She will also exercise the rights and responsibilities vested in the Governor as a member of the GoldBod Board.
“I hereby appoint Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, as my authorised representative to attend and fully participate in all GoldBod Board Meetings on my behalf, effective Monday, May 11, 2026,” the letter read in part.
The Governor explained that the appointment was intended to ensure that his interests remained effectively represented in the Board’s activities and deliberations.
“Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is duly nominated to represent my interests, contribute to deliberations, and exercise all rights and responsibilities vested in me as a member of the Board,” the letter added.
The appointment places the Second Deputy Governor in a position to represent the BoG Governor in GoldBod’s board-level engagements and decision-making processes.
Mrs Asante-Asiedu’s role will therefore include participating in discussions and exercising the responsibilities associated with the Governor’s membership of the Board.
The move ensures continued representation of the Governor on the GoldBod Board while allowing him to delegate his participation to a senior official of the central bank.
