The Metropolitan Chief of Tamale, Hon Sule Salifu, has begun a working tour of private sector companies in the northern regional capital. This novelty, the Mayor explains will enable him to formally introduce himself to the captains of the industry and to strengthen ties between the assembly and the private sector investors.  

He thus, visited some banks in the Tamale metropolis on Wednesday (November 4, 2021) where he interacted with the management and staff of the financial institutions to have first-hand information concerning their operations and the underlying challenges undermining the sector.

The Mayor together with some staff of the metropolitan assembly visited the Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), CalBank, Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB).

Mr. Sule Salifu assured management of these institutions of his personal commitment and that of the Akufo-Addo government to create the enabling environment and opportunities for the mutual benefit of the country and the private sector actors.

He, thus, underscored the various critical roles the financial sector organizations have played in the the implementation of some government initiatives and programs introduced since 2017 coupled with activities of the assembly.

The Tamale Chief Executive further urged the managers of the companies to collaborate with the Metro Assembly as they enroll programs that seek to improve the socioeconomic welfare of the people and create job opportunities for the populace.

“I want to assure you that, many more of this visit will come and so this will not be my last” he said.  

He further announced plans to pay other public and private organizations such similar visits to acquaint himself with them as well.

Meanwhile, leadership of the organizations lauded the MCE for taking steps to strengthen the working relationship between their respective companies and the assembly and assured the doors of the institutions are always opened to do business with the assembly.
