The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) has handed over a US $14.5 million primary substation constructed at Kanda to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The substation is one of two primary substations in Accra constructed with funding from the US government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

The substation is named after a retired employee, Ellen Kavanagh Moran – who was responsible for the development and implementation of infrastructure projects in several MCC partner countries including Ghana.

Throughout the implementation of Ghana’s two compact programs; namely the Agriculture Transformation Program and the Power Compact program, she championed Ghana’s cause to ensure success.

The Ellen Moran primary substation will ensure the reliability of power supply to critical national institutions such as the 37 military hospital and the Greater Accra Regional hospital.
